CRASH-OR-FLIGHT?
On a Friday evening in July 1999, bound for a Kennedy cousin’s wedding on Martha’s Vineyard, John Kennedy Jr, piloting his single-engine Piper Saratoga plane, took off from New Jersey Airport with his wife and sister-in-law. The trio never arrived. Kennedy flew along the Connecticut shoreline, left the coastline at Rhode Island and flew out over Rhode Island Sound. The plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean at 9.41pm, killing all aboard. At 9.40pm, the plane’s wings had been level, meaning that the critical period lasted only 60 seconds.
